Curated with love, by a queer photographer who gets it.

Planning a wedding as an LGBTQ+ couple can be deeply joyful—but let’s be real, it can also come with added stress when it comes to finding vendors who fully get you. As a queer wedding photographer based in Michigan, I know firsthand how meaningful it is to work with vendors who create safe, affirming, and inclusive spaces for all kinds of love. That’s why I’ve put together this list of some of the most welcoming, LGBTQ+ friendly wedding vendors across the state—from officiants to venues to drag queens and makeup artists. These are folks I trust, admire, and would recommend to any couple looking for a dream team that celebrates them for exactly who they are.
1. Venues
The Felt Estate– Holland, MI
Why I love them: Overnight accommodations, 3 different venue options, and offers a classy and luxurious feel that serves all the old money vibes. They also have been hosting LGBTQ+ weddings at their space before it was even legal in Michigan. Talk about a true ally space!
Gable Hill– Marcellus, MI
Why I love them: Straight from a rustic fairytale with twinkle lights and a nature-focused scenery, a great getting-ready space (such an asset), and affordable pricing starting at just $850.
Copper Moon– Lansing, MI
Why I love them: A private parking lot (seriously a game changer, trust me), unique brick walls, and a perfect mix of romantic dark vibes and natural lighting. This venue embraces the untraditional, and are strong, vocal allies. Their declaration for love of LGBTQ+ weddings is listed right on their home page, and the space is actually what was formerly the Spiral Nightclub (an iconic gay club)!
2. Coordinators
Dreams to Reality Weddings– Battle Creek, MI
Why I love them: Aside from being an ally herself, Sarah also goes all in on making sure you’re covered thoroughly on your big day with no judgment. She offers support and other recommendations for LGBTQ+ friendly vendors, so if you didn’t find what you were looking for on this list, she is a great one to have on your team.
New Adventure Events– Grand Rapids, MI
Why I love them: Offers multiple services beyond just coordination, like cake cutting for big crowds (so you don’t have to have your designated family member stuck at the cake table serving cake instead of enjoying the day with you), TIPS certified bartenders, and unlimited hours on your wedding day.
Westside Events– West Michigan
Why I love them: Annika’s extremely funny and inviting personality aside, you’ll also get clear, unwavering support throughout your wedding day. She offers multiple team members for the most involved, detail-oriented approach, so nothing goes forgotten. You’ll be taken care of fully- from sticking to the timeline, to being handed water while taking portraits under the hot summer sun. She will not let you be disappointed (or dehydrated, lol!)
3. Makeup
Artistry By Kylie– Jackson, MI
Why I love them: Offers a variety of services for all types of people- from full femme glam to a gender-neutral gothic beat. With Kylie, there is room for everyone to express themselves.
Cloud 9 Esthetics– Detroit, MI
Why I love them: Offers makeup and esthetic services, leaving LGBTQ+ spouses-to-be full opportunity to divulge in self care.
Blush Beauty– Grand Rapids, MI
Why I love them: Exclaims their acceptance of LGBTQ+ clients right from the start on their Facebook and Instagram pages, and offers a range of makeup artistry styles that really show off their talent. From 70’s inspired glam to a modern minimalistic glow, Blush Beauty is ready to keep it as simple or unique as you’d like.
4. Officiants
Sweet Ceremonies by Candy LLC– Serving all of Michigan
Why I love them: Candy has tons of queer representation on her homepage, with gay, lesbian, and all couples in between being shown, and is so adamant about marriage-equality.
Aspen Kate– Grand Rapids, MI
Why I love them: I could go on forever about Aspen. She is a fellow photographer friend, but also officiates weddings and is a member of the queer community herself! She is passionate about human rights, and making your love story more achievable and stress-free.
5. DJ
BES Entertainment– Serving all of Michigan
Why I love them: Being LGBTQ+ friendly is obviously a must, but beyond that, Matt knows how to throw a party. From all the bangers of the 2000’s, and 80’s throwbacks that will get the older crowd going, he plays an array of everything and never misses. With club experience and DJ mixing (yes, this DJ isn’t just going to press play and pause on a playlist!), weddings with him have even me getting groovy on the dance-floor. He also has some fun additions like a CO2 blaster, for those extra fun photo-ops and memorable party moments.

6. Drag Queens
Yes, drag queens! Hiring these hard-working, queer performers is such a fun, memorable, untraditional way to fund your community and bring attention to their craft. I have reached out to some of the best Michigan drag queens just for you, so you can keep your money where your heart is, and have a damn good time doing it!
